Vito is 2 years old and is just about 15 hands already. He is owned by Neva Perotta who bred and raised him. His dam was a reined cow horse, and his sire is a reiner. Neva started him this summer in lessons. When she started back to school (she's a teacher), she put him in training. I have been working on his two year old program so far. He is gaining confidence and loping beautiful circles. I am just starting cow work with him.

I might have given the impression that we ride wild n crazy over here. Hedy Rogers-Jones has taken pictures at a couple of our cow practices last month. These photos show how I set novice people or green horses up in roles where they can succeed as cattle crew and herd help. Those roles help the horses get comfortable with cows all around them before we start adding the pressure of turns and faster work. So, new people, don't be afraid that I'm going to throw you in the deep

Neva, Caty, and I showed at KCRRV Show #2 I won the Open highpoint, and am leading in the series with Jolene. Caty won the Amateur high point and is leading in the series. Neva won the Amateur Select high point and is leading in the series. KCRRV Show #3 Jolene is off right now, so I brought Tiana. This is Tiana’s first real show. She has never showed on cattle, or down the fence. She won high point of the day. This is a big deal to me because this little hot rod has taken t

Neva, Caty, and I got the rust off last Sunday at our first ranch horse show. AJ took video. He gets his boot off next Tuesday and will be able to get back riding. Caty won the amateur. I still don’t have all the scores for Neva’s and my classes. Thank you to Linda Snapp and the Kern County Riders for putting on the ranch versatility show series. We appreciate you!! I made a little highlight reel:

Working fresh cows is the ideal situation. Unfortunately, that ideal situation is hard to come by. We work on all the skills that we use in the show pen~using our dull cows.
